So yesterday, I was talking to someone about their creative business and how they were strategizing for the rest of the year. We got into a deep convo about whether they were going to keep going as-is or pivot into something new. We reflected on how the first part of 2025 has gone, versus how they wanted the rest of the year to feel.
And after talking it through, it was clear (for both of us):
Baby, just keep creating.
You really have to use what you have in your hands and your heart.
Through my life, I've understood that your gifts, your creativity, and your ideas are your weapons and your platforms. What you give out into the world is how the world will remember you. What you do every single day determines your purpose, and your energy will introduce you before you even open your mouth.
You can always tell who is consumed with their dreams annnnnd who hasn’t fully trusted their gifts yet. Each of us was given a specific language we’re meant to speak into the world. None of it is by accident; it’s by divine design.
I think back to when I first started painting. I had no idea my gifts and these colors would take me this far. It’s like I knew, but stillllll had no idea that 11 years later, I’d be here saying, “Wow. Look at what’s been built.”
And even with all of this, It still feels like just the tip of the iceberg.
That’s how you know when God is your inspiration. Your capacity becomes limitless.
You don’t run out. (<------ read that a few times)
Last week, I made four new paintings while binge-watching shows and prepping for other projects. And when I looked at them later, I had to pause like, “Wait… this came out of me?” When you create for legacy, when you focus on maximizing your full potential, you end up producing more than you imagined.
So I challenge you to:
-Think bigger.
-Do more.
-And remember, you are equipped for more than you even realize.
(Since I've gotten a few inquires----for those who are genuinely interested in collecting art, you can email me at melissa@melissaamitchell.com. I’m intentional about who collects my work because it’s an investment for both of us.
Ok, let me go be productive (a little lol). Be great today. Your future self is waiting on you.
