Don't let social media make you forget your power

Don't let social media make you forget your power

Social media is powerful. So powerful, in fact, that it can make you forget your own power. We scroll and consume so much of other people’s lives every day, it’s easy to get lost in the sauce and forget our own magic.

But let me remind you-->Don’t let someone else’s success make you forget your own.

Every day I get a Timehop or memory notification that takes me back to something I accomplished on this exact day years ago. I’m immediately transported to what I was wearing, who was in the room, how I was feeling, what it took to get there. And then, like so many of us, I moved on to the next thing. The way society and social media are set up these days, you’re rushed through your wins.
You get married—someone asks when the baby is coming.
You get a degree—they ask when you’re going back for another.
You land a big contract—and the question is, “So what’s next?”

But sometimes, the blessing is just getting there. Sometimes, the win is the moment itself.

I’ve been blessed to win a lot—to check off a whole lot of goals. And still, I catch myself acting like I’m not doing enough. But then I sober up quickly when I look around:
At my blessings.
At my office.
At my studio.
At my home.
At my tribe.
At my car.
At my mirror.
And I remind myself—if I don’t do another thing, I’ve already done enough.
I think it’s hard to sit in success these days because life moves fast. Faster than it used to. We barely let the confetti fall before we’re back on the grind.

So I’m urging you today:
Take a few minutes and write down 11 things you’re proud of.
Big or small—just list them. And when you find yourself in your feelings, feeling like you’re “behind,” pull that list out and remember who you are.
You’ve come a long way—and that deserves applause. Don’t forget to remember how magical you are.
