NEW MELISSA A.MITCHELL GALLERY - BLOOMINGDALE'S (LENOX MALL)

The Sky Was Never the Limit—I Was

The Sky Was Never the Limit—I Was

The Sky Was Never the Limit—I Was

(Whewwwww-- that is SUCH a honest but heavy statement )

Listen, I had to take the limits off of how it would all happen. I had to stop obsessing over the how and the when and start walking in blind faith. It was me, the wholeeeee time. I had to transform my thoughts and let each day be it’s own thing, with a fresh new measure of faith.

Honestly, that’s hard to do when you’re a planner and a doer. But at some point, you have to wake up every day with the knowing that it will all come together for your good, just like it was promised. No matter what it looks or feels like. The only thing that WILL keep you going is your delusional faith. Well, that is what keeps me pushing.

With the current climate and the economy, it’s hard to “act normal.” But honestly, being a little insane might be what keeps you sane.

I was talking to a fellow creative recently, and he told me how he’s curated his timeline to completely block out noise that triggers him. We both chuckled, but it made so much sense. You have to curate your own brand of delusion sometimes just to keep going.

Yes, we know the news is important. Yes, we should stay informed. But we can’t let it consume our hope or dominate our thoughts. That kind of fear is what really limits us.

You think God is holding something back from you. But maybe, just maybe, you’re the one doing the holding back. That is easy to do through doubt, sabotage, fear, and hesitation. You have to push, climb and fight to get to the other side of optimism. It will be the best battle to win in the end.

If you never take the leap, how will you know what’s on the other side?
How will you discover that the life you want is actually waiting on you?

I asked myself those same questions years ago. So I started applying for things I wasn’t “qualified” for.
I submitted art into rooms that felt too big.
I dreamed bigger.
I wanted more.
And guess what?
I got it.

If I had stayed comfortable in my limited beliefs, the Melissa A. Mitchell and the Abeille Creations you see today would not exist.
So I’m sharing this to say: take the leap. Bet on yourself.
Whatever that looks like for you, trust it.
Do it for your younger self.
Do it for your current self.
And do it for the future version of you that is ready to walk into the next level.

The sky isn’t the limit.
And don’t let you be the limit either.
