In July 2026, while attending the 72nd Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Boule, artist Melissa A. Mitchell noticed attendees looking for ways to personalize their conference bags and make them their own. As she has done throughout her career, Melissa became the solution.
Armed with nothing more than her signature artistic style, years of experience, and a paintbrush, she began transforming ordinary bags into vibrant, one-of-a-kind works of art. What started with a few custom commissions quickly became hundreds of requests from across the country, proving that people weren't simply looking for a painted bag, they were looking for something personal. Something luxurious. Something that told their story.
The BeSpoke Carry™ was born.
Although the world may have just discovered Melissa's hand-painted bags, this moment was over a decade in the making. For more than 10 years, Melissa has been hand-painting handbags, jackets, shoes, and accessories using professional-grade leather paints specifically formulated for leather and leather-like surfaces. Every piece is carefully prepared, painted, sealed, and protected to ensure lasting beauty while preserving the integrity of the bag.
Today, Melissa's work extends far beyond handbags. As the founder of Abeille Creations, she has partnered with some of the world's most recognizable brands, including Coach, MCM, Nike, FIFA, Adidas, Toyota, Meta, Spanx, SHEIN, Goldman Sachs, Hulu, Ford, Vogue, the City of Atlanta, Art Basel, Bloomingdale's, Macy's Marketplace, and many more. How the BeSpoke Carry ™ Experience Works
- Complete the Commission Request Form and tell us about your vision, colors, organization, and inspiration.
- Every submission is personally reviewed. Because each piece is created by hand, commissions are accepted based on Melissa's availability and the proposed design concept.
- If your commission is approved, you'll receive an acceptance email with shipping instructions and a secure payment link for your deposit.
- Ship your handbag using the provided shipping information. We recommend genuine leather or high-quality leather-like surfaces for the best artistic results.
- Melissa begins creating your one-of-a-kind artwork. Every design is painted using premium leather paints specifically formulated for luxury handbags and accessories.
- Once your artwork is complete, you'll receive detailed photographs of your finished piece for review.
- After your final balance is paid, your BeSpoke Carry will be carefully packaged, insured, and shipped back to you with tracking information.
